For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— 2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
Ehesians 3:1-6 ESV
Dear Lord,
Thank you for revealing your great mystery to us!
It is a mystery that was not made known to the sons of men in other generations. So even as great as Abraham, Moses, David, and all of the Biblical heroics in the Old Testament, though some had a mere glimpse of what is yet to come, none of them received the revelation of this mystery of Christ. But the mystery is made known to us now.
It is a mystery that includes the Gentiles. When we, the gentiles, were separated from You, we were outsiders and strangers to the covenants of promise. We had no hope and were without God in the world. Yet God had a marvelous plan to include us as fellow heirs with You. By your grace and mercy, through the gospel, we became members of your body and partakers of the promise in You!
It is a mystery that the Spirit revealed, and it is life-changing. It was first revealed to the apostles such as Paul, and it changed Paul’s life. It is incredible to see Paul, the Hebrew of Hebrews, a Pharisee, and a church persecutor as the mystery’s leading minister. And from one who considered the Gentiles foes to one with an open and loving heart to welcome them, risking his life for the ministry concerning them, and finally imprisoned for them.
Lord, enlighten the eyes of our hearts so we can see the vast, bountiful, and undeserving grace we received. You made us the fellow heirs of your glorious inheritance, members of your body, and partakers of your great promises. Holy Spirit, change us by clearly revealing to us this wonderful mystery and beautiful plan from God. May it not only be an add-on to my life but something that shakes and shapes me to be the good steward of your grace. Grand me with the courage and faith to also bring the blessing of this mystery to everyone You love.
Prayed in the gracious and powerful name of Jesus! Amen!
