Daily Grace Thanksgiving Journal

It’s the new year, and I wanted to restart something that I did ten years ago — keeping a thanksgiving journal to count my blessings daily.  But instead of posting it on Facebook as I did back then, this time is on my blog here.

God’s love and grace exist in little things around us, which are only noticeable through a thankful heart. I am looking forward to a year of thankfulness. May my Daily Grace blog also be a blessing to everyone who reads it and be a source of inspiration and motivation for all of us to be more mindful and thankful for the small blessings we often take for granted.

Daily Grace 1/7/23: Finding Strength In Quietness

Took another walk to the shoreline this morning and really enjoyed the tranquility of a Saturday morning.   There is something magical about the sound of the ocean waves. The rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore is powerful yet calming. It’s like a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, the ocean…

Daily Grace 1/6/23: Three Blessed Years of Full-Time Ministry

Give thanks for three blessed years of full-time ministry! I took a morning walk by the water to celebrate this special day.  It was a nice break from the rain, and thankful for the quiet time that allowed me to reflect on the ups and downs in the past three years and see the Lord’s…

Daily Grace 1/5/23: Choose What is Better

First things first. I got my best breakfast combo on a rainy morning – coffee, pastry, and the Bible.   In Luke 10:42, Jesus said to Martha, “few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”  I recently came across the phrase, “good…

Daily Grace 1/4/23: Sing Like a Wind Chime in the Wind

The storm is here today! All I can hear now is the sound of the howling wind, the pouring rain, and the lovely tune of the wind chime out there in my backyard.    I’ve always admired the calmness of the wind chimes. Even on the windiest day, they can remain calm and sing that beautiful…

Daily Grace 1/3/23 – In His Time

Another big storm is in the forecast tomorrow, so today, I cleared the fallen leaves off my backyard to keep them from clogging the floor drain and standing water. When I finished the work, I took some time to enjoy my clean backyard.   Suddenly I found my white gerbera daisy has already bloomed. Then…

Daily Grace 1/2/23 – The Wild Colorful Mushrooms

Giving thanks for the morning walk with my bestie today and was thrilled to spot these colorful mushrooms! Think of Smurf or Mario Cart! It’s fantastic thinking that no one planted these mushrooms, but they just showed up overnight after the rain. Their vibrant colors and cute shape are so attractive. Yet the more colorful…

Daily Grace 1/1/23 – A Renewed Mind for a Happy New Year

Happy New Year, 2023! Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. To renew also means to renovate. When we renovate a house, we would have to identify what is important…

A Letter to My Son on His 13th Birthday

Dear Justin, Happy birthday! As you are turning 13 today and officially a teenager, I’m also celebrating my 13th anniversary of motherhood.  And so, I read Psalm 13. Psalm 13 started with the word “How long…”.  How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?How long must I wrestle with my…

Blessings – 11/19/20: Give thanks for the Colors of Fall

11/19/20 – Took a stroll around the neighborhood and found myself indulged in the colors of Fall. Despite of what the world is going through in 2020, Fall didn’t fail to make its grand entry, and God still sends these beautiful colors, every year. As we enter the 8th month of the pandemic and anticipating…

Blessing – 11/1/20: Good morning again! Sunrise on the 1st day of November 2020

11/1/20: It’s the first day of November, 2020 already, and the 8th month entering the shelter-in-place order! What a strange year we are having! Global pandemic, political divisions, separations among ourselves, sicknesses and death around us… Things just kept crashing over at us like waves in the storm. Daylight saving ended today, and with that…

Blessing – 10/31/20: thankful for every sunrise and sunset

10/31/20: Give thanks for every unique sunrise and sunset, and remembering a dear brother who is fighting a sickness in the hospital right now. May the God of sunrise and sunset also rests His mighty healing power on him, and protects him from all complications. Great is Your faithfulness! Lamentations 3:23 Thank You God for…

Blessing – 10/24/20: good morning again! chasing sunrise together

10/24/20: Sunrise Bible devotion with a bigger sunrise chasing group! It was cooler and foggier today, and sunrise didn’t quite look like what we anticipated. But it was all good when being able to hang out in the daybreak together; to keep each other warm with cup noodles; to praise the Lord of the sunrise…

Blessing – 10/22/20: oh plants, stand by me! (my African Violets)

10/22/20: Though I have had these babies for six years, every bloom they have still brings a smile on my face. And every bloom brings me so much hope. They have trained a plant killer to be be a plant keeper! I first got them when Guo, my husband, was admitted to the hospital six…

#Blessing-10/10/20: Catching the sunrise by a night owl and an early bird

Blessed is when a night owl and an early bird could catch a beautiful sunrise together. Woke up at 5:15am to see the sunrise with bestie. It’s just awesome to have someone who can do things with me that I wouldn’t have done alone! Hoping to catch the daybreak moment next time. Maybe just need…
