Daily Grace 1/7/23: Finding Strength In Quietness

Took another walk to the shoreline this morning and really enjoyed the tranquility of a Saturday morning.

There is something magical about the sound of the ocean waves. The rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore is powerful yet calming. It’s like a reminder that no matter what challenges we face, the ocean will still keep going and never give up.

Listening to the sound of ocean waves gave me a sense of peace; it felt like nothing was unsolvable.  It certainly helped me to recharge and find strength. I think this is what the Bible means by “in quietness, and trust is your strength” (Isaiah 30:15).  We all need to find our way of “quietness” to allow our Creator to speak to us and for us to channel our thoughts to Him.   It may be a hike up the mountain, a walk in the forest, or simply sipping a cup of coffee at your dining table.  Find your way of “quietness,” a way to regain your strength.

It’s the new year, and I wanted to restart something that I did ten years ago — keeping a thanksgiving journal to count my blessings daily.  But instead of posting it on Facebook as I did ten years ago, this time is on my blog.  God’s love and grace exist in little things around us, which are only noticeable through a thankful heart. I am looking forward to a year of thankfulness. And may my Daily Grace blog also be a blessing to everyone who reads it and be a source of inspiration and motivation for all of us to be more mindful and thankful for the small blessings we often take for granted.
