5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.
Hebrew 11:5
21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah. 22 Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
Genesis 5:21-24
14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
Jude 14-16
Enoch is best known for his 300-year walk with God. But the Book of Hebrews says,
before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God.”
How do we know that God was pleased with him?
In the book of Genesis, God walked in the Garden of Eden and lived with man, but man escaped from God’s face because of sin. Each person acted according to his own flesh/desire… until Enoch. Enoch minded about God’s heart! He understood that the righteous God would judge people’s sins. Enoch named his son Methuselah which proclaimed God’s judgment! Enoch was determined to walk with God and live a different life! He walked with God, and God was pleased to walk with him, just as God walked with Adam in the Garden of Eden in the beginning!
Let’s look at the supplement to Jude. It turns out that Enoch was the first person to know and tell about the Lord’s coming with his ten thousand saints, and that the Lord will judge the whole earth! The Lord was indeed pleased with Enoch, and the Lord revealed his plans to Enoch! There were no righteous people on earth at that time, but God showed the lonely Enoch that there would be ten thousand saints coming with him! At that time, the whole earth was full of sin, but God revealed to him that He would execute judgment on all and to convict all!
Some people say that Enoch did not do any special work besides walking with God. In fact, after Enoch understood God’s heart, his faith produced actions! He “preached the gospel” to sinners on earth – proclaiming God’s judgment! Call on people to repent and turn to God!
Even though Abel died, he still speaks because of his faith.
Enoch is not dead! He still declares that the Lord will come with His ten thousand saints, and execute judgment on all and to convict all! Enoch is no longer alone, there are ten thousands of saints around him, all of them are waiting to come together with the Lord!
My eyes have seen the glory
My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Refrain:
Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
