Mistakes turned into Blessings (Esther 1:19-22 Devotional)

19 If it please the king, let a royal order go out from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes so that it may not be repealed, that Vashti is never again to come before King Ahasuerus. And let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she. 20 So when the decree made by the king is proclaimed throughout all his kingdom, for it is vast, all women will give honor to their husbands, high and low alike.” 21 This advice pleased the king and the princes, and the king did as Memucan proposed. 22 He sent letters to all the royal provinces, to every province in its own script and to every people in its own language, that every man be master in his own household and speak according to the language of his people.

Esther 1:19-22

The advisers thought that respect can be gained through a law/decree, they were wrong.  What a difference between their methods and that of our Lord’s.  The advisors used the authority of the King to gain outward respect from their wives, Jesus humbled Himself to serve and die for us, which do you think will gain more respect?

I think the king made a mistake by abolishing the queen.  Human beings all make mistakes, but God uses every mistake of us to accomplish His good will.  By abolishing the queen, it opened up the door for the main character of this Book, Esther.  I do not think God caused Ahasuerus to ban the queen from his presence, but I do think that no matter how bad our decision is,

He will find a way to make something good from it.
