1 John, Devotional

A letter to my dear… (1 John 2: 12-14 Devotional)

12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake.13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, children, because you know the Father.14 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

1 John 2:12-14

When was your last time writing a letter? When you read the Bible, do you read a book or a personal letter? John was writing a personal letter to you as the Father is sharing His inner feelings. When we read the Bible, do we just read the words or see the Father who is talking to us?

Children, our sin is forgiven. Why is it important? Because we can freely come to the Father without any barrier! And we know Him as a Father, not the Judge! When we come to God, no rush to make up our prayers or shopping list. Behold His loving kindness! Feel the Father’s favor on you!

Young men, we overcome the evil one! Hallelujah! We were once slaves of the evil, now we are the overcomers because of the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! God’s words indeed are in us and we are strong in faith!

Fathers, we know He who is from the beginning. Not only by knowledge but from our enduring lives! We experience that He creates what we need when no one can. He parts the sea when we have found no way out. His words make us alive. He is our source and provider.

Prayer:

Thank God that the Bible is not only the best seller book! It is your personal letters to me. You want me to understand you, to trust in you, to know you. Help me to treasure and read your words passionately. Let your word abide in me and let me know you!
