12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.15 “If you love me, keep my commands.
John 14:12-15
A few questions for you to think about today.
- What are the prerequisites for accomplishing “greater things than these “for Jesus?
- What are the works that Jesus has been doing?
- What made it possible for us to do “greater things than these”?
Please pause here and think about the answers before you read on.
Can we walk on the water? Don’t think so
Can we feed 5 thousand? We can probably find a way to do it.
Can we love each other? Yes of course.
May I suggest that we are not expected to repeat what Jesus did on Earth? And may I suggest that anything we do for God out of faith and love of Christ are the “greater things than these”? I’d also like to suggest that WE can do greater things than these because we are doing it together for the ONE who loves us and died for us.
Now the biggest question is what greater things are you going to do for God. Don’t be shy, Jesus went to His Father. Don’t hesitate, ask in His name.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, we humble before You for your trust in us to do greater things for you. It’s not us who are able but You are able. Amen!
