The Most Precious Gift From the Father to the Son(John 17:6-12 Devotional)

6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. 9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

John 17:6-12

Have you ever wondered what gift to buy for someone? Especially those rich people who seem to have everything. So what gift does the God who created all things give to his beloved Son? It is indeed not easy to choose! Heavenly Father chose to give the disciples (including you and me) to the Lord Jesus Christ. But the Lord himself had to pay the price of his life, even his relationship with the Father, he was forsaken by the Father. A wonderful gift that the Lord himself has to pay a very heavy price for! It is the Lord Himself who will love these disciples! But do you understand the heart of the Lord? Jesus Christ is truly content and joyful with this gift! He mentioned many times that the disciples were the ones whom the Father had gifted to him!

Do you thank God for your spouse? ! Do you feel like having the most precious life partner your Father has given you?

Have you thanked Heavenly Father for your children? Do you think they are the most precious treasures?

Do you understand how precious the disciples are in the heart of Jesus Christ? He prayed for the disciples many times, and when he faced the cross, he still remembered the needs of the disciples more than His own needs.

How the Lord Jesus was pleased when the disciples received the Lord’s words, and they truly believed that Jesus Christ came from God! Maybe we all only see the weakness, failure, and problems of man, but the Lord Jesus said that He is glorified in them!

Luke 22:15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”

Luke 22:28 “You are those who have stayed with me in my trials”

The disciples went with the Lord through the trials of life. They accompanied the Lord Jesus through difficult times. The Lord Jesus cherished this love, and even Jesus said that He was glorified in them! Jesus earnestly desired to eat this Passover meal with the disciples!

Do you understand that you are a gift from the Father to the Lord Jesus Christ? Are you willing to understand the heart of the Lord? How much He treasures you!?

Are you willing to be with the Lord in all your trials? Do you want Jesus to be glorified in you?

Please enter the heart of the Lord Jesus, how precious he is to each of us! He rejoices and is glorified in us! The church is the most precious gift given by the Father to the Lord Jesus!

Prayer:

Father, what a treasure that You have given us to the Lord Jesus Christ! So that we understand the Lord’s heart, satisfy Him, and glorify Him! Hallelujah, you have transformed sinners into saints, the glorious bride of the Lamb, the beautiful church, stainless and unwrinkled, and fully satisfied the Lord’s heart! Match with the Lord!

Holy Spirit, please enlighten us, lead us to the heart of the Lord, and see His pleasure in us! Understand our identity and live up as the most glorious and beautiful bride, satisfy the Lord, and let the Lord be glorified in us!

  1. In just a few verses, Jesus had shown how MUCH He treasured the gift He received from the Father –

I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me… (v6)
I have given them the words that you gave me.. (v8)
    I am praying for them… (v9)
    I kept them in your name… (v12)
    I have guarded them… (v12)

He treasures us as a precious jewel, even more than His own life. May we treasure Him as much as He treasures us. I love you, Lord!
