The Dead Feels Nothing, the Living Has Relationships! (Ephesians 2: 1-6 Devotional)

1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus

Ephesians 2:1-6

Before we were born again, we might not feel that there was any problem with our own selfishness. We also didn’t feel that anyone was more important than ourselves. It was normal to pursue happiness, enjoyment, money, power, love, reputation, and status! We were numb to sin. Following the world was the most normal thing because everyone did it! When we did not have eternal life, life on earth could only be so.

If you put a big rock on a dead man, he will not feel pressure, he is lifeless, he has no feeling!

A caterpillar will never understand what the sky is until it has the life of a butterfly, it can experience the freedom to dance and fly, and it will never give up its wings and return to the life of a caterpillar crawling the ground.

Thank you, Lord, that we have been born again today! Eternal life does not mean immortality, but more importantly, the meaning of life! The relationship with God! God raised us up with Christ Jesus! Our lives are no longer lonely, no longer like the life of our former selves, but we have the deepest connection with the Lord in our lives! True eternal life is to be resurrected with the Lord, to live every day together, and to sit together in heaven!

When I flew back to Hong Kong from Singapore more than 20 years ago, a brother told me that you were going to be seated with the Lord in heaven again! His humorous reminder made me realize that when I was on a plane, the Lord was with me too. We were really sitting in heaven together! There was no cell phone signal on the plane, and no one on the ground could call me. Being in heaven with the Lord really makes our hearts look up to the Lord and experience the presence of the Lord! The job, the house, the gains and losses, and everything on earth has become too tiny. Yes, our eternal life is that we are raised with Christ and seated together in heaven! Let us focus on the resurrected Savior, enjoy this eternal life, and live out this eternal life!

Prayer:

Oh, Lord! Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life! Please teach me to focus on you, to experience the life of resurrection with you, to experience your presence, and to sit together on your victorious throne!
