Spiritual Warfare (Ephesians 6:10-13 Devotional)

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Ephesians 6:10-13

Right Tool for the Right Job

If you want to do a good job, you need the right tools and good tools for the job.  You do not want to use a hammer to kill a fly, it is difficult and even when you succeed, it may do more harm than good.  You do not want to use a fly swatter to fight a tiger, you may end up being its dinner.

Spiritual War

We are at war with evils, whether you like to fight or not.  The war began well before we were even born and this war unlike many wars before will bring blessings not destruction to many.  This is truly a fight for goodness & righteousness.

Weapons for Spiritual War

There are many different types of warfare, and each requires a different type of weapon.  In electronic warfare, you need electronic equipment and in information warfare, you need the correct information to counter all the misinformation.  In spiritual warfare, you need spiritual weapons from God.

Learning to Use the Weapons

Just possessing a weapon does not guarantee you will defeat your enemy; you need training and practice to use it effectively.  This is also true for spiritual weapons, you need to understand how to use each one and practice how to use them.

Fighting Together

No matter how good we are, we need to fight together as a team with God.  Prayer and faith is the way to rely on His strength.
