14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.。
Ephesians 6: 14-20
Dress Appropriately. You always think ahead what to wear before you go to places. You wouldn’t wear a suit to go hiking or shorts to Alaska, would you? What happened when you don’t dress appropriately? You might be rejected by certain venues or just so uncomfortable with the weather. What’s worse? You die. Going to battles without the armor is suicidal. Unfortunately, many Christians wear PJ in the fierce battlefields….without knowing.
From Paul’s writing, we know he’s well aware of the spiritual warfare. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. “ 6:12 These spiritual warfare do not involve guns or bombs but power and authorities of darkness. We cannot fight it with our flesh and blood. Thankfully, we have the armor of God to protect us. So, will you put them on? Will you put them on ALL THE TIME?
Now please read the descriptions of the armor and imagine yourself in it.
I’d like to suggest prayer is one of the key ways to fight the battle with God’s armor. In all occasions, with all kinds of prayers, keep on praying. Is it clear that the Bible is teaching us to pray for everything everywhere every time? Whether you pray in a group or alone, silent or aloud, long or short….keep on praying.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for the armor. Please remind us to put them on and stand firm in our faith. Amen
