2 John, Devotional

Love one another – AGAIN! (2 John 4-6 Devotional)

4 I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father. 5 And now I ask you, dear lady—not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.

2 John 4-6

A farmer wants a bountiful harvest; parents long to see their children grow up, and there is always hope in love.

I am so happy to see my sons grow up, graduate, work, and become independent. I am even more grateful that the children choose to love God, obey God’s words, practice the truth, and love one another! Our heart rejoices when we see our children obeying the Lord’s words, and God rejoices much more when He sees us obeying His words!

John once again asked the church (lady) to love one another! Quoting the Lord’s name,  emphasizing that it was the Lord’s commandment. How He loved us and gave Himself for us, and let us love one another with this love!

Why did John give this commandment to the church (lady) again? The lady was not a young kid anymore, she had a lot of life experiences. She might have been burnt and hurt. She might have met some people who were difficult to be loved! There are always people we want to avoid. After many years in the Lord, and as mature people, we may choose to avoid some people. But again John advised the lady to love one another! The Elder John still did not sternly rebuke and command, he asked us with his love, just as the Lord patiently waited for us to grow! But the Lord must be very pleased to see that we are willing to obey His command to love one another, particularly to those EGR (Extra Grace Required)!

Home Sweet Home

2. Through all eternity, in God’s plan, home is the core
The Father, the Son and the Spirit gave all for this
The Lord came to the earth and was nailed upon the cross.
God’s heart was pierced. He gave His all for me
Home sweet, sweet home!
This is my vision, my goal, my dream and my rest.
