Devotional, Ephesians

Who are you? What to do? (Ephesians 5: 1-5 Devotional)

1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. 4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. 5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Ephesians 5: 1-5

We have many roles and responsibilities. The devil wants us to meet the demands of the many roles every day, keeping us busy all day long. What is the center of our lives? What is our most basic identity?
We are God’s children and beloved children!
When we know who we are, we know to imitate God, not the world! We will understand that Christ loves us and gave Himself for us, and we must learn from Christ and live our daily life with love! We don’t just be busy contributing to the world, but more importantly, we must live for God, live out the love of Christ, and serve as an offering that is pleasing to God! Let our family, work, school, and community see God’s love and receive God’s salvation!
Fornication, filth, and greed all had great attraction and temptation to us who had sinned in the past. But everything changes when we become beloved children! We are saints cleansed by the blood of the Lamb! Fornication, filth, and greed are no match for us now! When our hearts are satisfied with God’s love, we no longer need to seek the pleasures of the fleeting sins of the world.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please let me know that I am your beloved & favorite child! You love me as you love the Lord Jesus! Let me know my place in your heart and let me live out the glory of a child of God!

Song:

The Glorious Vision of New Jerusalem
5. My Abba wants me
to be His most glorious child,
To inherit all with His beloved Son!
I’m His dearest child,
His dream, joy, and glory!
His infinite love is my sweet rest.
Father and son’s mutual love
satisfies His heart and mine,
*(The love of Father and son)*
Fore’er we’ll wonder at His love plan!
